Wendy DeWitt plays boogie woogie and blues piano at a high pitch. Intense, personal and delivered with a contagious smile, her work is inspired by Otis Spann, Memphis Slim, Sunnyland Slim and Pete Johnson, and seasoned by international touring and work with Delmark recording artist Steve Fruend and R&B legend Hank Ballard. Currently writing her 9th album Wendy also organizes the upcoming 15th Annual Queens of Boogie Woogie at Yoshi's Oakland, the SRO International Boogie Woogie Festival at SFJAZZ and the Blues Piano Orgy Series. To insure that more people enjoy the thrill of boogie woogie and blues piano Wendy teaches workshops at Berkeley's JazzSchool, Washington’s Centrum Acoustic Blues Workshop, and Augusta Blues and Swing Week.

Festival appearances include the San Francisco Blues Fest, Monterey Blues and Jazz Fests and Cincinnati Blues Fest. Wendy tours often, including Europe, St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John in the US Virgin Islands and across the US. She recently returned from a month in Spain and France and is preparing a tour of the southern U.S.

Wendy’s songs are heard on radio world wide, and she’s frequently appeared on the nationally syndicated West Coast Live radio program.

Along with duo partner Kirk Harwood (Norton Buffalo), Wendy is an International Blues Challenge Finalist. She also serves on the Board of Directors of The Golden Gate Blues Society and regularly teaches workshops on music theory and the music business for The Silicon Valley Blues Society.

“Heavyweight guitarists such as Steve Freund will attest to Wendy’s extraordinary ability at the 88’s, as did the late Rock & Roll architect, Hank Ballard...Wendy’s vocals are natural and unaffected, ...her piano work is of the first order...”

~ Sean Carney, Columbus Blues Review

“ ..DeWitt is a sweet-voiced chanteuse with a strong reliance on jazz phrasing and

inflection. Her piano style is based on those of Otis Spann, Albert Ammons and other

blues masters, and she tears it up…”

~ Bob Cianci - Blues Revue

“Wendy's new CD not only showcases her versatility as a writer, but her virtuosity on the piano as well.”

~ Steve Freund  Delmark Recording Artist

.“She has rightly earned the title of “Queen of Boogie” in the Bay Area and beyond.”

~ Bernie Butcher, Blue Wing Festival

“I saw heard pianist/singer Wendy DeWitt and drummer Kirk Harwood do a knock-out set for a most attentive crowd.”

 ~ Hawkeye Herman

“Fortunately, I just got turned on to Industrial Strength, the latest release from Wendy DeWitt and Kirk Harwood (and a few of their friends), which is full of Texas/Chicago boogie-woogie at its best.”
